You are already a resident, have a work and residence permit in Macedonia, or you are planning to relocate? You are wondering about the different communities you can join here? Keep reading to learn more about the Women in Tech community in Macedonia.
Origins
The women in tech movement aims to increase the participation and representation of women in the technology industry. It has several branches, such as providing support and resources for women interested in technology careers, addressing the gender gap in the tech workforce, and creating a more inclusive and equitable work culture in the industry. Organizations such as Girls Who Code, Women Who Code, and Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing provide resources and support for women in tech. The movement also addresses issues such as unconscious bias, lack of role models, and lack of support for women in the workplace through initiatives such as diversity and inclusion programs and unconscious bias training.

In addition, the interview with Monika Rizovska, ambassador from Women in Tech Macedonia.
The beginnings of Women in tech Macedonia:
Ten years ago, we referred to the Girls in tech representative office that was centralized in America, but after some time of action we realized that it is better to introduce a more accessible representative office that is in Europe and can provide more advantages for members – so 3 years ago we joined Women in tech is a global initiative and we have been active for about 10 years. What activities do you have – organized events and planned events that should take place this year?
The next event is the monthly co-working on Friday, where we gather and give space to meet new members. Then there are the technical events that happen once a month every Wednesday and we will announce the topic on our profiles.
This year we plan to continue even more actively in other cities, not only in Skopje. Several collaborations have already been agreed, a hackathon for social good, live 1on1 mentoring meetings, as well as a continuation of free online events like Tech Insights and the conference with different programming tracks.
We invite anyone interested in joining whether as a mentor or member to follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn for information on the next events coming up this month. And if you want to be a part of Women in Tech, join the community here.

What are your goals?
The goals of our organization are to reach more girls and women and increase awareness of the different technologies and directions that exist in the IT industry with quality opportunities, increase the number of mentors and help our members towards financial independence whether through work as freelancers, entrepreneurs or by employment in an IT company.
Can you describe the ways in which you have supported women in the IT industry?
Evaluating the numerical data, in the last year we managed to realize 22 live and online open events with over 5437 participants and listeners live and online or:
- 3 live conferences
- 7 coworking meetings
- 18 webinars
- 46 speakers who contributed
- 5437 listeners
All these events, workshops and conferences that we have organized so far have been voluntary, free and accessible to everyone. I am undoubtedly grateful for the recognition from the global organization of Women in Tech and I believe that with the team we will continue to do it with even greater enthusiasm. Our goal is to bring technology closer to everyone through education, in a variety of topics from the technological world. At the same time, we support and encourage the development of the five goals for sustainable development: education, business and entrepreneurship, digital and social inclusion, advocacy and gender equality. I believe that all our activities bring change in developing and fulfilling these goals, and the award for one of the categories for the greatest impact in education at the global level motivates us to continue and be more active.
